I just got a new pepper grinder, but I can't get it to grind. Please let me know how it can be adjusted it to make it work. It's nothing special, it's a common design.

I've always been a big Peugeot fan...I've used them for years with great results. One cool feature they came out with recently is U-Select, which lets you adjust the grind. You can see it here: http://www.kitchenzing.com/product.php?pcode=SET2623BM Not cheap, but worth it in the long run.

I have to comment that I was recently looking at pepper mills myself. Although you already bought one, if you feel as though you need another, then I'd highly recommend the Unicorn Magnum by Tom David.

http://www.unicornmills.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=3&categoryID=1

It's $31 (USD) and outputs an extreme amount of pepper in a short amount of twists. It's literally 20 times as much and helpful in cooking when you need lots of fresh pepper fast. Also this is the smaller version at 6 inches tall and has a tray at the bottom to keep pepper bits off the table.

I've hade these from Rosendahl for 4-5 years and I'm extremly satisfied with them. The fact that you can grind with ONE hand is the key feature...and they're terrible good looking as well :-)

[...] Great feedback on the pepper grinder post. Several commenters suggested the Peugot grinders, something I had already been looking at myself. So, I went out and got me one. It wasn’t cheap, but damn it grinds well. Six levels of grain size, nice heavy feel and 25 years or warranty. Can’t go wrong with that. [...]

Maybe this article could help you in finding the right grinder: http://www.varbostad.se/ArticlePages/200601/23/20060123165920_vb795/20060123165920_vb795.dbp.asp

Personally i like the Peugeot's but i still haven't bought one myself just gave them to friends as a gift. For about 5 years ago I bought 2 simple wooden IKEA grinders, why two of them? Because of they were cheap and I like to have the option to change between fine grain and larger grains quickly. So one of them is setup to produce fine grains and the other is setup to produce larger grains for the juicy steaks. ;) I use them (at least one of them) almost daily and they still work, so maybe that could be an alternative? Otherwise i like the look and feel of this Skeppshult grinder: http://www.skeppshult.com/bilder/0064_0065.jpg (750g - you almost can "feel" the quality)

Gadde, how does that thing work? Is it more of mortar rather then a traditional grinder?

Can never go wrong with a peugeot. I got this one for my birthday http://shop.culina.se/?artnr=A%2D21931 but I haven't used it yet. Can't find my regular grinders online but I'll check when I get home. Think you will be alright with most of these: http://shop.culina.se/?cat_id=31&subcategory=81&sct_id=81&subcategory2=0 . I'm fairly certain that you can adjust all of them for grain size.
