Eric Gunnerson points to a three part interview (more to come) with Anders Hejlsberg, the main architect behind C#. Lots of interesting details about the birth of C#.
builder.com got an introduction to User Interface Process Application Block (UIPAB). You just have to love that acronym :-)
UIPAB is Microsoft’s take on how to build WinForms applications using the MVC pattern. Haven’t tried the actually code but you would probably be interested if you’re building advanced WinForms applications.
My article on the basics of GDI+ is now also published on MSDNAA (MSDN for academics). I’m very happy that they liked it and wanted to republish it :-)
Dare misses checked exceptions in C#. This is the thing I miss most from Java when doing C# work. And juding from the chat on the future directions of C#, this won’t be in the language for a long time, if ever. Too bad really.
The moaning on the crappy (X)HTML that the ASP.NET controls spit out is finally getting some much needed attention.
I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Microsoft to ship better workin controls, they got a lously record when it comes to producing anything that conforms to (X)HTML. Let’s start a open source project that aims to deliver this instead. I’m in, any others?
Phil Scott is thinking about writing a wrapper around both IE and Mozilla. Please do! It’s a great idea and it would be wonderful if we could easily choose between our favorite browser in all programs that embed browsers (like SharpVectors, SharpMT and RssBandit).
Eric Rudder, the big boss of development over at Microsoft got a blog. He sure has some insights that none of the other MS bloggers got. Very exciting to see all these insiders keep their own blogs. When will other companies follow?
